Microchip

Microchipping in San Antonio is now required for pets as part of their city licensing. Every pet will need a registered microchip to renew or be issued a city license. Southeast Animal hospital provides microchipping services that includes enrollment and registration through HomeAgain®.

A microchip is a tiny radio frequency chip about the size of a grain of rice that displays a number when it is scanned. The chip is implanted under the skin with a needle on the back of the neck. It is no more painful than any other injection your pet receives. Microchips are a permanent form of identification but they are not a tracking device.

Registering your pet’s new chip number is the most important task; when your pet is microchipped with our hospital, we take care of that for you. Found pets our brought into our hospital all the time to be scanned that have a chip, but no registered owner. If you have found a pet and need help getting him/her home again, you may use this website to search a universal database: http://www.petmicrochiplookup.org/
